We'd like to think that this is an old Crandall recipe possibly dating back to the cranberry bogs of the original Rhode Island Crandall homestead. This IS a recipe passed down through Jonny Clark's Crandall line. We discovered that seven generations back, Jonny and Christi have a common Crandall ancestor. It is a tradition to serve it at Thanksgiving time in the Clark household. Regardless, it's a recipe that we share to remind us of those cranberry bogs in Rhode Island where John Crandall established the first Crandall residence.
1 c. cranberries
1 c. raisins
1 c. heavy cream
1 c. sugar
Mix together until sugar dissolves. Place in pie crust. Bake at 375 until bubbly (about 30 min).
Variations seem to be a Crandall tradition. We have also made this pie with blueberries, added pecans, or any other kind of berry combination.
